Here’s How To Find The Perfect Fitting Bra

To help us all avoid being in that 81% demo we turned to Mila Stojanovic, a bra fitting expert at Bravissimo, to get the scoop on how to find the perfect fitting bra.

“The key thing to do – whether you’re shopping for a bra in a store or online – is to have a fitting,” says Stojanovic. “A bra fitter can then help guide you based on your size, shape and what you’re looking for. There are virtual fittings where you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home and can then talk through options with the fitter. And, if you’re in a store, the fitter can help in the same way, showing you different styles that work with your shape and size.”

Knowing your size is really important.

“Your size is the cornerstone to the whole bra shopping experience. If you’re doing a virtual fitting, it’s a good idea to buy a few ‘sister sizes‘ to try on – that is, the same volume cup with a different band size, such as a 34E is the sister size to a 32F. This way, you’ll be able to save some time and have different options to compare what feels and looks the best.”

After you know your size, determine what you need the bra for.

“Is it for a specific outfit, a special occasion, or just an everyday bra to wear ongoing? This is important to help narrow down the style. Do you need a plunge, a balconette, a sports bra or something else? The end usage will help you decide on which styles work best.”

Comfort is just as important as style and fit.

“And, after you have a bra in your size that seems like it will work for your intended outfit or outfits, make sure you feel comfortable, confident and supported in it. Move around. Put a top or dress over it to make sure the silhouette looks great. Nothing should be pinching or poking you – if it does, you’re in the wrong bra or wrong size!”
