All aspects of our lives have pretty much changed. Perhaps nothing more so than how — and where — we work. Since most of us our using our homes as makeshift offices, video conference call services like Zoom have become a real lifeline. But working from home creates a bit of a quandary. How do we dress for these work calls without looking overdressed? (Because who’s going to believe you chose to wear a three-piece suit to work from your living room?) Our solution? We decided to look back at some recent runway shows for a little inspo. Our philosophy? We’ve already invested in several of the trends so our closets are stocked with possibilities. It’s important to note that since a video conference call only reveals what you’re wearing from the waist up, you have a little leeway when it comes to what you wear on the bottom. Of course, we’re not advocating going pantless or sans skirt. We’re simply suggesting you don’t have to be super formal from your waistline down. That means everything from shorts to pajama bottoms to miniskirts and even jeans are in play. Check out the slideshow above for some video conference call outfits even your boss will love.Video Conference Call Outfits

You can pretty much jazz up any button-down with a necktie. (Plus, ties are currently trending.) If you don’t have one of your own, try borrowing from your significant other you’re currently quarantining with. Add a belt to any skirt so the top of your bottom half still looks polished, even if you’re wearing a super short skirt. Leave out the necklace and cap, though.

Pajama dressing out in public is still very much a thing, but if your co-workers aren’t hip to the trend, simply slip on a blazer over your fave pajama bottoms. Belt the blazer to make sure everything stays in place.

This is where a crisp white shirtdress comes in handy. Since no one will be seeing too far beyond your waistline during the call, you don’t have to worry about showing too much leg.

Vests are staging a comeback and nothing says you mean business like a structured black vest (cape not included). Wear one over a decorative tank and work in khakis to finish off the look.

A silky shirt with a jewelry-accented collar is all business, even if it’s tucked into dark denim Bermudas. If your top is without bling, a thin chain-link necklace slipped under the collar will work just fine.

You may never dare to wear leather shorts to the office, but for a video conference call they’re totally appropriate. Especially if you team them with a striped button-down and maybe a blazer.

Make a romper more sophisticated by sporting a short-sleeve sweater on top. Make sure you add in a belt and if your one-piece has a cool collar, flaunt it by pulling it out over the sweater.

You can recreate this look by tucking a colorblock zip-up into a sleek black skirt. The result falls in that sweet spot between athleisure and glamleisure.
