According to a recent report by TechSci Research, the global sneaker market, valued at $58 billion in 2018, is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of more than 7 percent over the next five years, reaching $88 billion in 2024. That’s a lot of sneakers.
Keeping up with the ever-growing, ever-evolving “sneaker game” can be exhausting. Last summer, it was all about the dad sneaker. Fashion darlings like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner traipsed around town (and Coachella) in chunky, ugly-chic, Seinfeld-esque trainers. Fast-forward to today and the dad shoe craze finally, mercifully, seems to be dying down. So what’s next on the horizon?
Well, it looks like classic kicks are coming back. Arbiter of style Bella Hadid has lately been spotted around town sporting low-key white Chuck Taylor All Stars. High-top or low-top, laced-up or slip-on, when it comes to choosing your newest set of sneaks, the only rule you need follow is this: give those tired dad sneakers a rest.
