Here we are again. Four weeks, four countries and hundreds of shows later, the Fall 2018 season has come to a close. It was a lot to take in but, once again, we’ve managed to distill a month of incredible fashion down to its 15 most important trends.
So, how will we all be dressing next fall? Generally speaking, it’ll be a mix of the 80s (i.e. really loud prints and really big shoulders), 90s (i.e. logomania and Cher Horowitz-worthy plaid) and today (i.e. apocalypse-chic hats and KiraKira sequins).
And that’s just scraping the surface. Click through the gallery above for the top Fall 2018 fashion trends straight from the runway.

Top 15 Trends of Fall 2018
Head-Turning Headwear
Come Fall 2018, your hats will do THE MOST. You’ll trade your see-through Chanel bucket hat for a #branded neon Prada one (or a high-fashion balaclava, care of Gucci, Calvin Klein or Alexander Wang). Jacquemus is offering up extra-wide-brimmed sun-repellers; Versace is doing plaid berets; Alberta Ferretti is making Stetson-style cowboy hats happen; Saint Laurent wants you to dress like a 50s noir star. Take your pick.

Westernwear
If Westworld is your favorite show, then Isabel Marant, Veronica Beard, Coach, David Koma, DSquared2, Calvin Klein, Pyer Moss, Rejina Pyo and Louis Vuitton might have your favorite looks from the Fall 2018 season. Each designer fully embraced the show’s future-meets-1800s Western aesthetic with details like animal-print neck scarves, bolo ties, rustic metal belts, fringe accents and cap-toed boots. Yeehaw.

Sheer Prairie Dresses
On a related note, flowing, semi-sheer prairie and Victorian-inspired dresses were another major Fall 2018 trend (sighted at Calvin Klein, Brock Collection, Cinq à Sept, Tory Burch, Zimmermann, Elie Saab, Coach 1941, Giambattista Valli and more). Take a cue from the runways and pair your floor-skimming frocks with matching knee-high boots.

Security Blankets
Problem: We live in fear of rogue politicians and natural disasters. Fashion’s Solution: Swaddle yourself in a cozy security blanket. (Or just keep one handy, should the mood strike.) Funnily enough, couture blankies were by far the most popular accessory of the Fall 2018 season, showing up at Roksanda, Delpozo, Ports 1961, MM6 Maison Margiela, Maison Margiela, Stella McCartney, Off-White, Poiret, Lemaire, Alexander McQueen, Jil Sander, Salvatore Ferragamo, Marco de Vincenzo, Missoni and MSGM, to name just a few.

Keep your fall outfits colorful and interesting with a wild leopard print coat from the likes of Givenchy, Koché, Haider Ackermann, Balenciaga, Junya Watanabe, Victoria Beckham and Vivienne Westwood. Alternatively, try a not-found-in-nature (faux) fur.

80s Maximalism
Designers from New York to Paris (notably Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Nina Ricci, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu) are obsessed with the 80s. “That’s the moment when women first emerged in a real way into the workforce and they dominated with their big shoulders and bright colors,” explains Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The general feeling seems to be the bigger the shoulders and brasher the patterns, the better.

This is the trend that never ends. For Fall 2018, designers once again set out to prove that two-piecers are far from stuffy. Naturally, Balmain led the pack here: From fully bedazzled pantsuits to coordinated see-through separates, Olivier Rousteing’s latest collection burst with NSFW workwear.

Don't shy away from sequins! To keep an aggressively glittery look well within your comfort zone, offset the razzle dazzle with a down-to-earth staple (like a fleece hoodie or argyle sweater). Then whip out that KiraKira filter.
