That said, the site remains a success story. In 2012, Nasty Gal introduced an in-house collection to sell alongside its affordable/indie e-commerce wares that now accounts for 35 percent of sales. It also has brick-and-mortar stores, sales remain north of $100 million and the retail destination has raised $49 million from Index Ventures, a venture capital firm that has also invested in sites like Net-a-Porter and ASOS.
