When I think of sheer fabrics I tend to cringe in anticipation of body baring looks that would be best left at home. However, this Spring, designers are layering sheer fabrics in unique ways that all age groups and body types can enjoy.
Designers like Chloe, Dolce & Gabbana, and Alberta Ferretti featured sheer maxi skirts and dresses worn over shorts, providing enough coverage for acceptable streetwear. The opposite of this look, Givenchy showed us how to layer a pair of shorts over sheer chiffon pants.
The key to wearing sheer is to look for garments that add weight and texture to your look paired with an opaque staple piece underneath for coverage. Although it might look hot on the runway, don’t leave it up to your lingerie to provide modesty.
