Changemakers: 7 Reasons We Love Amal Clooney
No. 1: Brains for days
Regularly described as brilliant, Amal got her law degree from St. Hugh's College, Oxford. Then she came to the United States and got her Masters in Law from NYU School of Law. She's fluent in English, French and Arabic. After practicing law and rising to the top ranks in the human rights field, she taught at Columbia Law School. No doubt about it, the woman is smart.

Clooney has been recognized for the work she does on behalf of Nadia Murad, a Yazidi woman who survived ISIS abduction and imprisonment after her family was murdered by the group. Clooney has brought a case against ISIS. As she explained to NBC Nightly News , if you can "expose their brutality and corruption," it will be one step closer to shutting down the militant and murderous organization.

No. 5: She's a philanthropist
Amal puts her money where her mouth is, giving to numerous charities. She's an immigrant herself, so when she found out about children being separated from their families at the border, she, along with her husband, donated $100,000 to the Young Center of Immigrant Children's Rights . She started a scholarship in her name to give a female Lebanese student a chance to study at the United World College in Armenia with the global charity 100 Lives.

No. 6: She is total career goals
From defending an Al-Jazeera journalist who was jailed for three years in Egypt to advising former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Clooney's law career is distinguished and extraordinary. She is not only able to try cases in the U.S. and England and Wales, but The Hague and the International Criminal Court as well. Her more famous clients have included Julian Assange of WikiLeaks and Enron.

No. 7: She strives to live a normal life but uses her fame for good
Amal keeps her life as far under the radar as she can, being married to one of the most recognizable actors in the world. She works hard to give her twins a normal life, keeping their family out of the spotlight. She acknowledges, however, that if her fame can bring recognition to underrepresented groups and the people she represents, it can be a good thing. She often moves conversations with journalists from frivolous topics back to her work, devoting her press time to those without a voice.
