Model Robyn Lawley Reveals Facial Scars From Scary Seizure-Induced Fall

model Robyn Lawley, 29, who suffers from lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome, survived a terrifying 7-foot fall on a staircase about two months ago that was caused by a seizure, she revealed on Instagram yesterday.

Lawley’s photo revealed many scars on her face as a result of the accident. She said that despite the incident, she is grateful no irreversible damage was done. “I suppose it’s ironic that I’m a model. [H]owever, I’m grateful I didn’t break my neck. I’ve managed to come full circle with that gratefulness, and luck. I could [have] had it holding my daughter for example, or I could be in a wheelchair, or not breathing at all,” she said on the post.

She managed to make light of the situation, referencing her “new lighting bolt scar on my forehead (aka official wizard now) lip and chin.”

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that triggers the immune system to attack healthy cells, while antiphospholipid syndrome causes the immune system to attack proteins in the blood. Lawley encouraged people to follow the Lupus Foundation of America (@lupusorg) and Lupus LA (@lupusla) to support ongoing and new research on the disease. “Life isn’t all rainbows,” she said. “I’ve found strength the past few months following people who are brave to share their physical and emotional ongoing battles.”
