If seven models spend an extended weekend sunbathing on a remote island and there are less than two dozen Instagrams to prove it, did it really happen? The world may never know. This past weekend, while plebes from Portland to New York gave a puffer-warmed welcome to the first real snow of the season, Victoria’s Secret veterans Elsa Hosk, Lais Ribeiro, Bella Hadid and four of their close, equally svelte friends — Emily Ratajkowski, Hailey Baldwin, Gizele Oliveira and Rose Bertram — jetted off to the Bahamas.
Judging by the following Snap, either it was a working vacation or, like their good friends the Kardashians, the “pics or it didn’t happen” squad likes to have a full hair and makeup crew on call at all times.
Just kidding, it was most definitely a #sponsored trip. Stylist Lindsay Kate Grosswendt and photographer Adam Franzino went along on the private plane, boat and Jet Ski rides to outfit slash document the fun. The girls’ well-documented Bahamian bliss was an attempt to drum up press for a brand new music festival called Fyre Festival — “the cultural experience of the decade,” according to its Instagram. (Mission accomplished.)
Like Coachella, Fyre Festival will take place over the course of two weekends in the spring. That’s where the similarities end. Packages will cost you anywhere from $1,500 to upwards of $8,999, depending on how VIP you like your treatment. Included in each package is a teeny-planed flight from Miami to Fyre Cay (the site of the girls’ sandy-bottomed antics), admission, meals and hospitality. In addition to the multi-platinum musical lineup (which has yet to be announced) revelers will enjoy art, food, snorkeling near a plane wreck off Norman’s Cay, yachts, jet skis, yoga, seabobbing and a chance to hunt down over $1 million worth of actual treasure. Will Bella and Co. be there? No idea. But Fyre Festival’s site does promise guests the chance to spend “one-on-one” time with “some of the greatest artists on the planet.” If this all sounds worth a couple month’s rent to you, tickets are on sale now.
Much like Taylor Swift’s latest Fourth of July party, the trip gave the model crew the chance to show off the latest and greatest in swimwear. Hadid has us dying for black crocheted tops and tasseled bottoms, Hosk’s romantic white bandeau is sure to flatter any pear shape and the group’s ubiquitous ring-accented two-piece is a beachside must-have (as are straw hats and retro eyewear).
