2011 Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet Review, Part 2

After a strong start, the Cannes Film Festival is now coming to a close, ending what was a parade of unadulterated glitz and glamour. Here’s a look at some of the most notable looks from the second half of the festival.

Dolce & Gabbana‘s lace looks have been garnering countless glossy covers so it’s only fitting that a slew of the looks made their way down Cannes’ red carpets. Two of the most memorable looks were worn by Sarah Jessica Parker and Uma Thurman.

Stunning in couture creations were Fan Bing Bing in Spring 2011 Atelier Versace and Li Bing Bing (no relation to Fan) in a Georges Chakra Spring 2011 couture gown.

Proving that she’s not one to go for the boho-chic look favored by her twin sisters, Elizabeth Olsen popped up at a slew of events in looks from her sisters’ high-end line, The Row. As for Sarah Jessica Parker, she can always be counted on, at the very least, to wear something visually interesting. Above, she dons a beautiful floral printed crepe georgette Fall 2011 Elie Saab gown with lace detailing on the sleeves and at the neckline.

Tulle and feathers aren’t easy to pull off, but Penelope Cruz and Karolina Kurkova did just that. Cruz opted for mounts of tulle and elaborate embroidery when she paired her gold clutch with a Fall 2011 Marchesa stunner, while Kurkova went for a flapper look in a black feather Chanel Spring 2011 dress.

I may be on Team Aniston, but even I have to admit that Angelina Jolie looked nothing short of gorgeous in her strapless brown Atelier Versace gown. The biggest surprise of the festival, however, may have been Vanessa Hudgens when she went with an asymmetrical Fendi gown. Usually not a red carpet stand-out, Hudgens looked refreshingly memorable.

You never know what you’ll get with Zoe Saldana. One minute she will go completely minimal in Calvin Klein or Michael Kors and the next she’s stunning in Givenchy. Here she worked the red carpet in a bustier Armani Prive gown with a red and white striped cascading skirt. Another wild card, Gwen Stefani, opted for a black sequin jumper — few could pull off this look, especially with platinum blonde hair, but Stefani makes it work.
