Academy of Country Music Awards Fashion Recap

How could she look anything less than stunning? With the glow of a woman fresh off her wedding ceremony, Reese Witherspoon (who did not walk the red carpet) wore a lace and tulle Marchesa little black dress with delicate bodice embroidery to the 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards which took place on April 3rd in Las Vegas. Minimally accessorized, Witherspoon let the gorgeous dress shine without it overpowering her diminutive frame.

Taylor Swift gave her Twitter fans a sneak peak of her Spring 2010 Elie Saab Couture gown prior to the awards show and while the details (she posted a close-up shot) of the embroidered gown with its floral appliqué were gorgeous, the light color of the yellow gown completely washed the pale singer out.

While Swift opted to make a splash with sparkle, Nicole Kidman opted for a fabric we rarely see from ready-to-wear on the red carpet, python. No, Kidman’s dress wasn’t from the recent Chloe Fall 2011 collection, it was actually a Fall 2011 L’Wren Scott. The snug-fitting python dress with its slit and fur bolero were a bit much – and if Kidman is trying to fight the austere reputation she has, the look, coupled with her stiff appearance, didn’t do much to help the cause.

On the opposite spectrum, Brooklyn Decker, who has been getting a lot of attention as of late from her new hair style courtesy of Ted Gibson and colorist Jason Backe, went for a clean and understated Victoria Beckham cocktail dress to complement her new ‘do.

As for the night’s big winner, Miranda Lambert, she opted for a white goddess dress that had potential, but unfortunately did not seem to be fitted properly to the singer’s body. The talented singer did not fare much better with the hot pink Barbie dress she opted to switch to after walking the red carpet. But hey, at least she won four trophies!
