The buzz around the 2011 September issues has been brewing since word leaked that Vanity Fair would be featuring troubled slow-to-do-her-community-service actress, Lindsay Lohan, and that Vogue would be featuring recently wed Kate Moss. It was just a few months ago in the October 2010 issue that Vanity Fair chronicled Lohan’s downfall so it will be interesting to see, if the rumor in fact turns out to be true, what the glossy will be adding to their newest cover feature.
As for Vogue, the issue is rumored to feature a pictorial of Kate Moss’ wedding, shot by Mario Testino. However, according to Page Six, it won’t just be her John Galliano-designed wedding dress that will be featured, but Moss will also be dressed in gowns by a handful of designers, including Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, and Valentino (think Carrie Bradshaw circa the first Sex and the City movie according to the gossip column). Word is that Anna Wintour asked a select group of ten top designers to create one-of-a-kind looks that they would have liked to see Moss wear during her nuptials. Testino, who shot the wedding for the glossy, reportedly also shot the spread.
One thing’s for sure, if the rumors turn out to be true, it looks like Vogue will have the upper hand on Vanity Fair, much to the delight of the fashion mag’s many advertisers, which for this year’s September issue will take up nearly 600 pages — up 9.3 percent from a year ago, but still short of the record-breaking 2007 September Vogue issue which included 725 ad pages. According to AdAge, Glamour magazine will have about 240 ad pages (comparable to what they had last year), InStyle will boast 431 ad pages (5.8 percent more than in September 2010 and the most in the magazine’s history), and Harper’s Bazaar will have 308 pages of ads (an increase of 2.2 percent). Ad pages also increased for Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire. The notable exception? Elle, whose ad pages dropped nearly 7 percent from last year.
Ad pages aside, fashion insiders are also buzzing about September’s V Magazine which will boast a 72-page spread worked on by Carine Roitfeld and shot by Mario Testino. The heroes-themed issue will be centered around Elizabeth Taylor. Need a September fix now? The 2011 September issue of Vogue Japan is out and features Karolina Kurkova in Fall 211 Giorgio Armani.
