CFDA president Diane Von Furstenberg sent out an email admitting that she’d accidentally hired an under-16 model for her Fall 2011 runway show, a violation of CFDA’s Health Guidelines. After yesterday’s news that the designer was embarrassed about her criticism of Michelle Obama‘s State Dinner dress, it’s pretty clear that DVF is on a major apology kick. I can’t tell if her strategy to say sorry instead of staying silent is an effective way of beating her critics to the punch or if its just drawing attention to her missteps, but I appreciate the impulse. And it’s nice to know that Diane’s everywoman doesn’t just wear flattering wrap-dresses, she also makes mistakes. [Racked]
