Erdem Fall 2011 Runway Review

If there is one thing that London designers are renowned for, it’s that they know how to work a print. Everything from digital prints to knits has been seen this week, but no show was as eagerly anticipated as Erdem’s.

The Canadian-born designer has built a well-deserved reputation for being attuned to the season’s trends while integrating his unique perspective on print. This season, the artist’s muse, and more specifically Monet through the eyes of Jackson Pollock, inspired him and the turbulent prints seemed like a logical step into winter from his praised spring presentation.

It looked as if paint washed over Monet-like prints and the designer integrated lingerie inspired elements in unusual places. The silhouette was slightly more form fitting than last season and the designer integrated more revealing looks with a nipped in waist and thigh skimming slits. Fitted shift dresses and matching accessories were shown alongside bias-cut gowns that are destined for Oscar best dressed.
