Forum Members Review Valentino Spring 2025, Alessandro Michele’s First Runway Show as Creative Director

Paris Fashion Week, day seven, and all eyes were on Alessandro Michele earlier today, as the designer staged his debut runway show as Valentino creative director. Following the surprise release of the Valentino Resort 2025 lookbook, Michele’s signature maximalism is well and truly back. Harry Styles, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Carla Bruni, and Karen Elson were just a few splashed across the front row for Michele’s first Valentino runway presentation. The Italian designer revisited treasures within the Valentino archives, in an attempt to highlight a Roman sense of opulence for the collection titled ‘Pavillon des Folies’. Sumptuous fabrics, cascading ruffles, sequins, and bow detailing were on full display, as models walked across a runway of broken glass.

Valentino Spring 2025 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Alessandro Michele doing Alessandro Michele. It’s nice but for Valentino? I don’t know. Even if it makes sense with what Valentino Garavani did in the 60s and 70s. It feels very Michele.” [imjustken]

“Girl.. bye. Valenticci.” [tourbillions]

“It feels very déjà-vu and I blame the excessive styling. I believe without the amount of lace gloves, piercings, and better casting, it would’ve felt less Michele and more Garavani.” [thiago]

“Michele almost fooled me with that first look. The most anticipated show of the season and the most flop one. He confirmed he is a one-trick pony and has the most one-dimensional vision ever.” [FashionPower]

“No evolution. Gucci 2.0.” [Grets]

“INCREDIBLE SHOW, love it! It was like I was not watching a fashion show, but a decadent movie, with no models but characters. Loved the music, the set, and the round camera for the shoes. So cinematic!” [carla56]

“Best show of the season, IDGAF. The styling is definitely Michele, but the darker color palette and lack of pop and hip-hop elements created a nice separation between this and Gucci.” [LadyJunon]
