Yeeee-haw! Menswear Paris Fashion Week is officially a-go. Getting us off to an immensely buzz-worthy start was Pharrell Williams presenting his third collection as creative director for Louis Vuitton. Last night, a bevy of A-list guests were ushered inside the Jardin d’Acclimatation (behind Fondation Louis Vuitton) within Paris’ 16th arrondissement to witness Williams’ American-inspired collection. It was a Wild Wild West in the French capital, with the Vuitton creative director inspired heavily by the American West, ultimately evoking and becoming an ode to the maison’s spirit of travel. For his Fall 2024 menswear offering, Williams examined the roots of American Western workwear, essentially redefining the codes of the stereotypical cowboy in a tribute to both black cowboys and Native Americans. Music (including unreleased tracks) from Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons and Native American singers engulfed the vast showspace, as models done laps of the tent. The lineup of models roamed the space, toting an eye-catching assortment of reimagined and covetable versions of Louis Vuitton’s signature Keepall, Speedy and Steamer leather goods pieces (as well as stomping around in Williams’ latest collab with American footwear brand Timberland), around the set which featured wraparound projections of a stunning vista.
