New York Fashion Week Spring 2022 is now a wrap. After a few seasons of being mostly virtual, it was certainly nice to see all the in-person shows. Not to mention witnessing fashion coming down the runways .
Collina Strada kicked things off with an eco-conscious collection. Christian Siriano marked his 40th collection with a show of epic proportions. Speaking of 40, Carolina Herrera celebrated four decades with Wes Gordon giving us clothes worth celebrating. Not even a rain shower was enough to stop Gigi Hadid from storming the Moschino runway.
At the top of the Empire State Building, LaQuan Smith welcomed guests who were all fortunate enough to shop the collection live. Prabal Gurung’s offering celebrated women and their beauty. While Gabriela Hearst paid homage to art collector Hester Diamond with an array of absolutely vibrant knits. Michael Kors served up American classics, of course. Then Tom Ford closed out the week with a high-octane presentation.
Here are all the hits and misses of New York Fashion Week Spring 2022. Well at least according to our unfiltered forum members.

HIT: Michael Kors Collection
"Love this collection, the silhouettes are gorgeous!" [leyy ]
"I think it was a very classy and simple offering. It’ll definitely be what his customer wants and he knows that!" [charles01 ]
"It’s simple, luxurious, comfortable and timeless." [Lola701 ]

MISS: Carolina Herrera
"Why does everything look so sloppy?" [MyNameIs ]
"Unsure about the towel ring detail used throughout and the balloon dresses lifted from Valentino... Its biggest sin is just how forgettable it all is." [YohjiAddict ]
"I think Wes Gordon is confused which house he designs for. This is very Oscar de la Renta." [THD96 ]

HIT: Tom Ford
"OMG, yes finally Tom Ford is back. Very Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2004, but with more colors. This is all I'm asking from Tom Ford, ultra luxurious textures, excellent tailoring and just the right amount of vulgar." [THD96 ]
"It's all I'm asking of Tom Ford, too, absolutely love this. There isn't a single look I dislike and Tom Ford shows always bring the energy, glamour and sex appeal which finishes off New York nicely." [vogue28 ]

MISS: Eckhaus Latta
"More Helmut Lang! GOD, PLEASE! MAKE IT STOP!" [YohjiAddict ]
"I usually like Eckhaus Latta, but this is a miss. Also, I am seeing huge Helmut Lang influence in almost every collection..." [depordetioz ]
"Tragically Helmut Lang-looking. How can you even sleep at night knowing you're designing a collection that owes everything to HL? Do you have a conscience?" [dior_couture1245 ]

HIT: Moschino
"I actually like this, simple, fun and wearable. Makes sense since they chose to show in NY this time." [vetements ]
"I love it, it's so fun." [aracic ]
"Per usual, Jeremy Scott's Moschino brings some fun, joy and a strong sense of pure unapologetic glamour to fashion week. No matter the theme of a Moschino show, I always find myself digging for the smaller details and Scott never disappoints." [vogue28 ]

MISS: Proenza Schouler
"The Celine rip-off still continues... They are so obsessed with it, this is almost scary." [GivenchyAddict ]
"I still can't believe they've survived the pandemic. Their social media engagement has been dying and they have nothing to say in terms of aesthetic. The clothes can be found literally anywhere else, especially on the secondhand Celine market." [perhydrol ]
"In a word disappointing. Each season I try and give the pair a new chance to reintroduce something fresh even new yet the result is lackluster at best." [Fulton St Critique ]

HIT: Rodarte
"Whoa, I had to take a double take. They really took a 180 in this one from their usual baroque fantasia. I'm kinda loving this minimalist 70s cult follower vibe from the second half, it's so weirdly chic." [Marc10 ]
"I actually think this looks quite nice. I like that they take clothes that have a very thrift store origin and just give them a boost. I like that this time around things look a bit more 'designed,' refined and elevated..." [dior_couture1245 ]

MISS: Gabriela Hearst
"Good luck selling this." [liberty33r1b ]
"At Gabriela Hearst 'ugly knits' must be a very profitable product category, only that would explain the atrocities she inflicts on us season after season. In short, these are clothes for the sartorially, and most certainly visually, impaired." [YohjiAddict ]
"Seeing this tragedy and then realizing that she's going to be giving us another shocker collection at Chloe in a few weeks just makes me sad." [Nomar ]

HIT: Altuzarra
"Coming back to New York is the best thing he could’ve done honestly. Really strong work in some of the final dresses." [RedSmokeRise ]
"Strong show, the vibe is interesting and there's attention to the silhouette as a whole and to the small details..." [YohjiAddict ]
"Probably one of his best collections. The black crochet/white suit look on Gigi Hadid is really gorgeous." [dior_couture1245 ]

MISS: Naeem Khan
"What in the Versace/Dolce & Gabbana is this?" [Urban Stylin ]
"What’s with the fake Versace print at the start? It’s the exact same colors, too, shameless!" [charles01 ]
"Just tacky! Is he involved in a race to the bottom with Dolce & Gabbana?" [YohjiAddict ]

HIT: Anna Sui
"Guess something clicked this season. Might be my favorite collection of hers since 2011." [RedSmokeRise ]
"I like it. It's a nice showing, pared down without anything extraneous." [dfl-001 ]
"I think she is doing something right as long as the clothes sell and I actually find her aesthetic quite timeless to some extent." [JohannesL ]

MISS: Coach
"What a mess." [charles01 ]
"I would believe if someone told me that this was Collina Strada with a bigger budget. Coach has been such a disappointment, the first Vevers' collections were very focused and actually promising and then he went for the Gucci route." [perhydrol ]
"A rancid parade of Bonnie Cashin's vintage jackets and coats mixed with 70s denim leftovers and stupid T-shirts." [jeanclaude ]

HIT: Ulla Johnson
"Pretty, wearable, feminine." [KINGofVERSAILLES ]
"Her style is always no fuss, beautiful and timeless pieces which I like." [Urban Stylin ]
"Love this as always. Beautiful prints and a wonderful color palette..." [Fulton St Critique ]

MISS: Peter Do
"This is completely and utterly soulless and unimaginative." [dior_couture1245 ]
"This collection is so pedestrian, it could be any other NY designer. How disappointing considering he had such a strong vision at the start with his sleek tailoring. Somehow I think that his clothes looked better in the lookbook format because this runway show is doing them no favors." [Nomar ]
"Basic patterns that any skilled graduate student could cut. Not impressed in the slightest." [Fulton St Critique ]

HIT: Thom Browne
"Weird and kind of ugly. I wouldn't want a single thing. But I love it nonetheless. I really like the final look." [dfl-001 ]
"I loved the cut of the trousers. Very Italian in length, but traditional and British in width. Great show." [Fulton St Critique ]
"I'm very thankful that there are finally some shows that don't put the models at risk of indecent exposure by way of sl*tty Lycra/mesh contraptions!" [YohjiAddict ]

MISS: Prabal Gurung
"WTF happened to him? He used to be my fave designer in New York." [Koibito ]
"This collection just looks like he had a bunch of leftover fabrics and ta-da. Who even is his customer?" [Nomar ]
"I can look at this collection and immediately tell that it is Prabal Gurung. Not because of an iconic look, simply because it looks like all of his other collections. There is no evolution in his work." [Joromana ]

HIT: Jason Wu Collection
"It’s beautiful, comfortable, safe and unpretentious. Good collection from Jason Wu. I hope he will keep this direction…" [Lola701 ]
"It's really pretty, one of the highlights of NY. Wish he has more hype because he really has got the skills and is really honest in his approach." [THD96 ]

MISS: Christian Siriano
"Christian Siriano: Attack of the Heavily Discounted Fabrics Part 30." [YohjiAddict ]
"He and his 'collections' are basically the state of fashion in 2021 in a nutshell." [MyNameIs ]
"His collections need some serious editing, if he had just shown 12 to 14 of these pieces it would have been a lot more sophisticated." [Urban Stylin ]
See all the looks from the Christian Siriano collection .
HIT: Collina Strada
"I quite like it actually, fun and vibrant collection. It was such a feel-good presentation as well!" [Marc10 ]
"Feels quite human — flawed, messy and oddly beautiful." [Delleone ]
"The casting is quite perfect, the models look exactly like the type of people who would actually wear something like this. Good for them..." [aracic ]

MISS: Batsheva
"This brand out of all the NYFW brands has confused me since its inception. Who funds this? Who's buying this?" [RedSmokeRise ]
"This collection looks like someone’s wrong and not-so-legal fetishes splashed on a fashion show. I can’t believe people actually let this happen." [dontbeadrag ]
"America is really a decaying empire if this is the kind of thing that gets put on a runway..." [YohjiAddict ]
See all the looks from the Batsheva collection .
HIT: Christian Cowan
"I love this! It’s very fun." [charles01 ]
"Fun and doesn't take itself too seriously unlike the many try-hard brands that flood NY." [mathiaskatz ]
See all the looks from the Christian Cowan collection .
MISS: LaQuan Smith
"This collection can guarantee him as the winner of a Shein or Fashion Nova design competition." [THD96 ]
"Pure trash." [dior_couture1245 ]
"I'm rooting for LaQuan, but I would rather hang out with him (he seems like a lot of fun) than wear his clothes... This doesn’t feel elevated at all." [Lola701 ]

HIT: Dundas x Revolve
"Yes! This is the kind of collection that's been missing for a few years." [MyNameIs ]
"Going to be completely honest and declare this show one of my highlights of NYFW! From the minidresses to the strut of Imaan Hammam — this is simply everything I love about fashion. The collection is like a mash-up of recent Celine, Balmain and Dundas at his best." [vogue28 ]
"The energy, presentation and casting are amazing and make it look like pure luxury! Totally love it." [Urban Stylin ]
See all the looks from the Dundas x Revolve collection .
MISS: Helmut Lang
"Such an extremely pedestrian collection." [perhydrol ]
"Exactly how many creative directors and relaunches has this brand seen in the last five years? Who owns it and what’s the price point? So confusing and unnecessary." [rip_ian curtis ]
"It's quite ironic that, with so many famous designers out there copying from Lang in a passionate way, we have to see the design team from Helmut Lang making a collection with a total lack of passion for the designer." [jeanclaude ]
See all the looks from the Helmut Lang collection .
MISS: 3.1 Phillip Lim
"Largely a snoozefest and some pieces are downright ugly." [KINGofVERSAILLES ]
"This will look nice hanging in the background of Saks' clearance racks while people go hunting for other brands." [THD96 ]
"The main thing is that it reads as very pedestrian compared to his past work. A shame really." [YohjiAddict ]
See all the looks from the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection .
MISS: Private Policy
"That final look takes this show to a negative level of taste..." [YohjiAddict ]
"What is that last look? A runway showpiece or a Red Light District accident? Years ago this would not pass for a Bershka collection let alone a NYFW stand-alone show." [dontbeadrag ]
"Private Policy should have remained private. This never needed to see the light of day. Ever." [dior_couture1245 ]

MISS: Threeasfour
"It took three people to design this?" [avonlea002 ]
"There's nothing even remotely pleasing about any of this, everything looks so aggressive and ugly." [aracic ]
"Outside of the nauseating colors, it is apparent that there is no fashion here. Instead, we get clothes (if you can even call them that) created from individuals without a single sense of style." [Fulton St Critique ]
