Just when you think that the whole denim thing can’t go any further, Swedish jeans brand Acne serves it up hot. A recent collaboration with Husam El Odeh, jewelry designer, has produced jeans that look straight out of the middle ages. The most popular style from the collaboration has 3 plates of sterling silver on the front of the jean, mimicking medieval armor. The jeans have already been adopted by the celebrity set, most notably worn by stylista Chloe Sevigny. The jeans are retailing for about $2,000. You can also get denim jackets with sterling silver armored shoulders.
Haven’t heard of Husam El Odeh? He’s been working his magic all over the fashion globe. Trained as a fine artist in Berlin, his work has been taken up and featured by such magazines as Dazed & Confused and the New York Times’ T Magazine. He’s worked with designers like Marios Schwab, and his last collaboration was with Topman, for whom he did an exclusive line of silver jewelry.
Acne is the style house responsible for super dark drainpipe jeans, and a minimalist aesthetic that lends itself to shoes, furniture, and their magazine, Acne Paper. The F/W201 collection is rumored to have been inspired by Star Wars.
