MADONNA’S DAUGHTER IS HER FASHION BUSINESS PARTNER

Madonna’s 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes, is really excited to finally be designing clothing. In fact, Madonna calls Lourdes her business partner and says that she’s an artist first, daughter second. We have no doubt Lourdes will be quite successful in the fashion world.

With a mom like Madonna and a start in the fashion business at age 13, Lourdes has a huge advantage over most. And Madonna says she’s been interested in a fashion career for a long time. According to People, Madonna told the Associated Press, “My Christian Dior shoes will go missing, and then some fabulous bag or my skinny jeans – the only pair that fits me – are gone… Lola has been bothering me for ages about designing clothes.”

And now her wish is finally coming true. Lourdes is playing a huge role in designing the new Macy’s Material Girl line with Madonna. So, while it may seem a little bit odd to us that Madonna thinks of Lourdes as more of a business partner than a daughter, she explains, “As we are working, I see her more as a creative person, as an artist… Then every once in a while, I remember that she is my daughter.”  Perhaps that’s just a sign that Lourdes is growing up to be a hard worker.

Of course, Lourdes is used to borrowing Madonna’s Dior and probably has plenty of designer duds of her own. But Madonna and Lourdes realize most young people can’t afford high-end apparel, which is why they’re making the Material Girl line accessible to teenagers. Madonna says, “When I was 13 years old, I couldn’t afford expensive clothing.”

We can’t wait to see Madonna and Lourdes’ line.
