When Jenna Lyons is mentioned, people instantly associate her with J.Crew, and it’s because she spent nearly three decades with the company, ultimately serving as its creative director and president. So when she left J.Crew in 2017, it came as quite a shock, leaving us to speculate what was next for the designer.
The answer to that is media domination. Yesterday, Warner Media announced a partnership between Lyons and Turner to create a “multi-disciplinary partnership at the intersection of lifestyle, home, fashion and beauty” that will launch in 2019. The venture will include a lifestyle brand that combines e-commerce with a television show (hosted by Lyons, natch), social media and a digital platform with daily editorial content.
“I want to build a story-driven, comprehensive resource for anyone to satisfy their personal style and help them make aesthetic choices. And we will bring that together with real time entertainment,” Lyons said, adding that the venture is an “open-minded approach to thinking about commerce across multiple platforms.”
“The Woman Who Dresses America” is ready for her second act and her influence may be bigger than ever.
