This season, Siriano went less dramatic and more wearable than he has in his two past, non-Project Runway seasons. In fact, with the exceptions of his last three looks, there was very little drama.
The looks shown at the end, three floor length pieces, were signature Siriano with their shine, oversized bows, layers, ruffles, and endless tulle. They weren’t terribly original, and the second to last look had a peplum-esque layered puff in the middle which would not be easy to pull off, but the looks were undeniably red carpet-ready.
It was with his day and cocktail wear, however, that Siriano churned out the most memorable looks (smart move in this economy, where dramatic ball gowns are in noticeably less demand).
Tailored outerwear and monochromatic dresses shown in various length and levels of coverage were smart, sexy, and wearable, and I can see young Hollywood sporting many of them in the months to come.
