Alana Hadid — aka Gigi and Bella’s older half-sister — is a seemingly frill-free natural beauty (though as we found out, she does have a long list of beauty product favorites). While she may not be as high profile as some of her siblings, she’s also a player in the fashion industry. After working as a personal shopper and stylist and designing a line of emoji T-shirts, Alana recently got into the sunglasses game, launching an eyewear line with her father, Mohamed Hadid. The seven-style collection was inspired by travel (style names include Passport Control, Mile High and Frequent Flyer) and Shopbop and Revolve are already among the line’s retailers. Prices are relatively reasonable, ranging from $149 to $169. It should go without saying that members of the Hadid family have been spotted wearing Hadid Eyewear shades, which will no doubt help continue to propel the line forward. We spoke with the jet-setting designer and asked her our quickfire questions.
- My morning routine… does not consist of coffee, but I do really love an Alfred matcha. Since I’m not a huge morning person, I usually catch every last minute of sleep before enjoying a morning workout. After I get a sweat in, I usually return emails and head to meetings. Oh, and I throw in eggs and bacon somewhere in there!
- My go-to beauty products are… Korean ones. I’m also obsessed with TONYMOLY and I always buy Weleda. I’m a true fan of Chanel products, the sunscreen from SkinCeuticals and the Hourglass concealer stick and Naked Skin from Urban Decay. Lanolin for my lips every day in every purse, Algenist Color Correcting and Givenchy black masks.
- I’m dying to splurge on… a new Gucci purse. A big one!
- When I’m lacking inspiration, I… travel or listen to really loud music.
- I would describe the relationship with my siblings as… pretty unique. We are very close for being so far apart in age and I’m blessed to have been born with best friends by my side.
- My fitness routine consists of… Hot Pilates. I attend an insane amount of classes, too. I box a little with a trainer and I’m thinking about taking up rock climbing soon.
- The last thing I googled was… Arca Music Video.
- If you looked in my fridge you’d find… lots of veggies, coconut water, Smartwater, four different kinds of pickled jalapeño, tequila, bacon, almond butter, apples and probably a steak.
- I started designing sunglasses because… it’s so universal, definitely something my family is into and I had never really tried it. I wanted to create designs that were comfortable, stylish, high quality and accessible to everyone.
- The best gift I ever received was… (might sound cheesy), but my siblings.
- My favorite beauty trick is… Papaw cream. It’s one of the best products and really great for your lips. I use it to take off eye makeup and it’s known to heal a burn…(I cook a lot)! I order it in bulk and use it constantly.
- A tip for looking good in a picture is… just to feel confident and stand up straight.
- When it comes to dealing with insecurities… everyone has them. While you are worried what everyone is thinking, they are worried about what you are thinking. Don’t let it take up your valuable time. You’re cool!
- If my days had one extra hour, I’d… spend it with friends.
- The best place I’ve ever traveled… I just went to Tokyo, Japan and it is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever visited. Might’ve moved to the top of the list. Next to Bali…
- One dream I still hope to accomplish is… a full clothing collection.
- To look good while traveling… I drink lots of water and refresh with a mask on the plane.
- Growing up, I always thought… I would be a teacher.
- The best piece of advice I ever got was… that what people think of you is none of your business.
- My biggest pet peeve is… bad table manners. My mom was a stickler for manners and I’m incredibly grateful now.
- One thing I wish people knew about me is… that I love bubble gum ice cream.
