Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus Drop Ivanka Trump’s Namesake Line

In the wake of the 2016 election, Shannon Coulter, a technology-and-media-marketing specialist in the Bay Area, founded the #GrabYourWallet movement, calling upon the public to boycott Trump-supporting retailers. The idea is to fight capitalism with capitalism and hit ‘em where it hurts most — their revenue. Athletic wear brand New Balance famously made Coulter’s hit list due to the fact that it (kind of) praised Trump policy, but its ranks fairly low on her “boycott-ability” scale.

Target numero uno is, unsurprisingly, Ivanka Trump’s namesake label. At the moment, #GrabYourWallet’s top ten companies to boycott, in descending order, are Nordstrom, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, L.L. Bean, Bloomingdale’s, Dillard’s, Zappos, Amazon, TJ Maxx and Lord & Taylor, owing to the fact that they carry Ivanka’s wares (or, in L.L. Bean’s case, raised money for the Trump campaign). However, in light of recent developments, said list is due for revision.

On Thursday, Nordstrom announced that it would no longer carry Ivanka Trump’s line due to poor sales figures. “We’ve said all along we make buying decisions based on performance,” a spokesperson for Nordstrom told Fortune via email. “In this case, based on the brand’s performance, we’ve decided not to buy it for this season.”

Racked reports Neiman Marcus is also, slowly but surely, disappearing its Ivanka inventory. As of early this morning, Ivanka Trump’s jewelry line no longer appears on Neiman’s website. Additionally, a sales associate at the department store’s Garden State Plaza location confirmed that all jewelry has been pulled from that location, though it’s unclear whether this is the case at all Neiman Marcus locations (Texas flagship, we’re looking at you).

On January 11, Ivanka took to Instagram to announce that she’d removed herself from the Ivanka Trump team. However, shoppers were not moved. As the Cut points out, Ivanka has yet to file the paperwork necessary for financially separating herself from her businesses, even if she’s no longer featured on its social media accounts. Plus, as ProPublica notes, Ivanka is still listed as her company’s CEO. Perhaps the latest actions taken by Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus will encourage Ivanka to take the leap and officially change her title. Regardless, these developments are a happy reminder of the power of grassroots action.
