Instead of a traditional fashion show, Misha Nonoo opted to unveil her Spring 2016 collection on Instagram, a move indicative of our times – and also of how important social media has become to the fashion world. Under the account @mishanonoo_show, the designer presented her latest, arranging the looks to fill the account’s grid with one continuous image. If you turn your device to the side and scroll, you can view all the looks.
As for the clothes, Nonoo delivers modern, crisp pieces with a feminine touch. We were particularly fond of a bright red midi dress with a v-neckline and cutouts on the sides, and a charming white crop top with a back panel that looks like large silver dollars. Nonoo says she was inspired by the minimalist art of the 60s as well as the women’s rights movement. “Spring Summer 2016 is a dedication to the strength of woman and power of individuality,” the Nonoo website says. For shoes, Nonoo collaborated for a third time with Aldo Rise, creating a set of comfortable-looking flatform sneakers that tie kerchief-style in the front.
It’s certainly a great way to showcase your collection, and we wager a lot less expensive than the production an entire fashion show entails. A few of the Spring 2016 pieces are already available for pre-order on the Misha Nonoo website, so have a gander if you want to get a headstart on building your wardrobe for next season. In the meantime, peep the collection in the gallery below.
