The adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie made its way onto the runway for Romance Was Born’s Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) show as part of the event’s grand finale on Sunday night.
Designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales looked to their nostalgia for childhood stories and specifically May Gibbs‘ cherubic Gumnut Babies to inspire the label’s Bush Magic collection. The result was models like Montana Cox and Samantha Harris decked out in yellow wattle, leafy headwear and eucalyptus nuts, plus illustrative designs of the young adventurers on relaxed silhouettes.
