Despite being eclipsed by the second coming of John Galliano on Monday, London Collections: Men had a rip-roaring good time. The three-day show schedule was so jam-packed, an extra fourth day was tacked on to accommodate all the action. So what exactly did you miss?
New York’s darling duo Public School nabbed the International Woolmark Prize for Menswear; they were the first U.S. brand to win the award. Another American coup went to Coach, which presented its first men’s ready-to-wear collection full of leather coats and accessories that even the ladies will be clamoring for. Aquascutum also joined the lineup after a brief hiatus. The 164-year-old brand returned with a fresh new menswear direction steered by designer Thomas Harvey. Other highlights included Paul Smith dressing a troupe of limber acrobats in his dapper dandy suits, Martine Rose’s collaboration with fashion collective Been Trill and Burberry‘s sexy front row, which stacked just about every teeny-bopping British musician and actor known to man, from George MacKay to James Bay. Not bad for a four-day weekend.
