It’s the end of an era. Jean Paul Gaultier took his final bow on his ready-to-wear runway on Saturday with a sendoff befitting a legend. The theme: Beauty pageant. The deco: A disco ball staircase. As for the entertainment? That consisted of a striptease by Spanish actress Rossy de Palma, a mud wrestling competition and a mock lineup of fashion’s front row, including models dressed as Grace Coddington and Suzy Menkes.
To celebrate Gaultier’s momentous ready-to-wear career, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite runway moments that date back to the 70s. Enjoy the show.
