When it comes to male models, Shaun Ross tops our list. Since being discovered in 2008, the model-actor-dancer has worked for Alexander McQueen and Givenchy, graced the pages of just about every major fashion glossy and starred in one music video after another, from Beyoncé‘s “Pretty Hurts” to Lana Del Rey‘s “Gods & Monsters.” Uptown at Lincoln Center, we caught up with the charming 23-year-old who’s redefining the world of beauty.
theFashionSpot: What’s your fashion mantra?
Shaun Ross: I’m not one of those people who live by one thing. I don’t really think about it, but if I had to go by something, I’d say, “Just do it. Without any explanation.” Because it’s Fashion Week, people are trying so hard. I’m just grabbing things. If you have the right persona and attitude, it will work. It’s all about honesty.
tFS: What do you wear when no one is looking?
SR: Sweatshirts and sneakers. Or something Kelly Cutrone got me…
[Kelly Cutrone interjects: I give away free clothes to the needy and the gorgeous!]
tFS: What’s the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention?
SR: Well, I don’t call them fans. I think that’s rude. I call them supporters. One girl ran up to me, fell into my arms and started shaking me at the airport.
tFS: Who are your fashion friends that you’re going to support this week?
SR: I don’t really support friends in fashion. I support people who support me. Like, Kelly Cutrone. I look at her separate from what she does. We support each other.
tFS: You’re also a supporter of Alexander Wang.
SR: He’s a good and fun person. I hung out with him and Beyoncé at her party.
tFS: What’s Alexander Wang like when he parties?
SR: Without a doubt, he drops it low!
