Shiny Pastels and Tough Feminine from Runway Two at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2014

Brands like Willow looked to soft pastels, as well as Alice McCall which opted for a quirkier take with shiny mints, peaches and sky-blues. Other designers, like Kahlo, stuck to a mainly monochromatic palette, which drew focus to its other notable features. For Carly Hunter it was sculptural shapes, and for LUI HON it was tailoring and plunging necklines.

A matchy-matchy perforated neon-pink ensemble by LIFEwithBIRD was a show-stopper, and YB J’AIME toughened up otherwise-feminine pieces with a ripped off-the-shoulder and collared red-lace dress.

Neo Dia worked sheer and arty prints, and Manning Cartell brought back the strong leathers and cut-out detailing which was so highly praised at the David Jones Spring 2014 launch.
