Best and Worst of the David Jones Spring 2014 Fashion Launch Runway

Australia’s elite came to the David Jones flagship store on Elizabeth Street in Sydney for the highly-anticipated launch, with guests like Rachel Griffiths, Jessica Marais and Nicole Warne turning up for the show. Of course, all the designers (and their muses) also came along to see their new ranges in action.

Jessica opened the show in Manning Cartell, followed by a range of contrasting blacks, whites and oranges in eye-catching prints and vertical lines.

Camilla brought a little slice of Moroccan heaven and holiday living, with beautiful flowing pants, maxi skirts as well as shorts and capes in African prints. Isola by Megan Gale followed suit with the holiday vibe, also opting for a tribal look dressed up with gold hoop earrings.

We got a little bit of ab action from the handful of male models when they strutted in board shorts by The Rocks Push and trunks from JETS by Jessika Allen. But the rest of the show covered up the greatness that Jason Dundas and the Stenmark twins have to offer, with designers like Vanishing Elephant, Zanerobe and Jac+ Jack shying away from shirtless looks.

The girls, on the other hand, were flaunting bods left, right and center. JETS by Jessika Allen’s women’s range featured phenomenal nude panelling and monochromatic frill details, while Zimmermann Swim stepped up to the plate with sleek black pieces and bold leopard print. The real show-stopper in swimwear was The Upside, with its sporty zipped pieces teamed with funky, high-top sneakers.
