It’s hard to top Bottega Veneta when it comes to understated luxury. Nearly every look in the cashmere heavy collection looked rife for a snuggle. Silhouettes were loose, giving a sporty feel to the collection, which included jogging pants, sweatshirts and hoodies.

Roberto Cavalli
Leave it to the master of flash, Roberto Cavalli, to stage a Miami Vice-inspired collection complete with a blue 1970 Ferrari Daytona on the runway. Green animal skin jackets, floral printed one-piece looks, man jewelry, patterned shirts buttoned down to the models’ belly buttons and plenty of skin-tight trousers made for a collection fit for the daring fashionisto.

Inspired by pop art, this season’s collection was rife with bright colors. While embroidered trousers and rainbow camo prints are certainly not for the demure, by keeping silhouettes tailored, the collection kept a surprisingly wearable feel.

Fendi
Leave it to Fendi to stage a show that succeeded in making backpacks look cool. Whether covered in fur or done in saturated green leather, nearly all the models walked the runway holding some form of a man bag. Varsity jackets, loose monochrome blazers and trousers along with leather pants and jackets photo-printed with images of distressed denim were also in the mix.

Even in a sea of brights, pastels, stripes, polka dots and plenty of other envelope-pushing looks shown on the Milanese runways, you can always count on Salvatore Ferragamo for a grounded collection of closet staples with a slight feminine touch. V-neck tops, lightly pleated and cuffed trousers, long and lean coats, belted jackets and safari colors made for a prim and proper Spring 2015 lineup.

Called “Echoes of Armani,” this season’s Giorgio Armani collection was the perfect balance of timeless elegance and tasteful, fashion-forward separates like a polka dot, button-down jacket. Silhouettes were relaxed for a comfortable feel and the color palette, for the most part, stayed on the neutral end of the spectrum.

Stripes and crossbody messenger bags ruled the runway at Gucci along with trim suiting with contrasting lapels, cuffed trousers and fitted tops for a jet-setting collection heavy on red, white and blue.

Cuffed trousers, loose blazers, stripes and plenty of pastels made for a casual, but tailored collection this season for Marc Jacobs. Quirky touches — a matching scarf and socks, for example — pervaded the wearable collection.

Missoni
Angela Missoni said she continued to be inspired by the surfer, which explains the long-haired, bare-chested models that made their way down the Missoni catwalk. Plenty of the brand’s signature prints were on hand and true to the designer’s inspiration, the focus was on daywear. This season her surfer went to Africa, making for fresh Ikat-like patterns in rusty hues.

Miuccia Prada noted that now is not a time for crazy fashion and with that she presented a toned-down collection for Spring 2015 — at least by the standards of a woman who has a penchant for vibrantly colored fur. Denim was prominently featured and boasted contrasting stitching as did rusty-hued monochrome separates styled with contrasting colors. Pattern shirts and sweaters done in a 70s-style, single pleat trousers and knee-length leather coats rounded out the collection.

Versace
Time to hit the gym because if Donatella Versace has her way, bare chests, loincloths, teeny, tiny briefs, fishnet shirts, toga draping and skin-grazing tops will be in come Spring 2015. Man jewelry and man bags were also on hand and a number of beach towels and separates were branded with Versace’s signature gold motif, making for an envelope-pushing collection that the Versace customer is sure to eat up.
