When thinking about which model could have been the most buzzed about one on the tFS forums last week, Ysaunny Brito immediately came to mind. After a surprise appearance in the latest issue of Vogue Paris, it seemed like this girl’s star was finally rising. When I went to check her thread, I was disappointed to see that it had actually been rather quiet. But shortly after, rumors surfaced saying she will be in the newest Balmain campaign along with Issa Lish, Cara Delevigne, Jourdan Dunn and Binx Walton. Quite a cast! Although we can’t guarantee that the source is reliable, it sure did get forum members excited.
“Her time has come!” proclaimed Riseup in reaction to the unconfirmed news.
And TheoG noted, “I would have thought it was going to take a minute for Ysaunny to get to where she is now, but she’s skyrocketing. Katie Grand loves this girl.”
Influential stylist and Editor-in-Chief of LOVE magazine Katie Grand does seem rather infatuated with Ysaunny — not that I blame her! Grand cast the 5’10 tall Ms. Brito in many of the shows she styles and may also have had a hand in getting her the Balmain campaign.
Ysaunny started her career in 2012 when she won the Elite Model Look Dominican Republic and made it into the Top 15 of the international EML Final.
“Oh I’m so happy she’s in Top 15! Well deserved. She does have a load of potential. I’m so gonna be rooting for her career!” commented matsuchan92 back then.
For the Spring 2014 shows, Ysaunny, who is now also signed with Society in NY and Elite in Europe, first stepped foot onto the international runways and had her first major moment when she was cast for the Christian Dior show. Forum member modelista was delighted and wrote, “Soo BEYOND happy that this beauty debuted at something major.” She went on to predict, “I have a feeling it’s nothing but bigger and better things from here on out.”
Bigger and better soon did happen for this Caribbean beauty when she also showed up at Marc Jacobs’ last show for Louis Vuitton, nabbed her first major covers for 10 Magazine and Elle Brazil, and made Fall 2014 her season, showing up at every show that matters.
This new face may not be getting all the buzz she’s deserving of yet, but as her bookings are getting increasingly more prestigious, it will soon be hard to overlook this beauty. Here’s hoping that the Balmain rumors are true and that this is only the beginning!
