The Inspiration: Barbie goes London punk.
The Look: Princess pink and ruched denim in addition to Ashish’s signature sequins. This was a super fun collection through and through. Lightweight pink fabric was given heft with plenty of layering and structure — it elevated not only a cool dress, but also a black sweatsuit and varsity jacket. Innovative lace and sequin fabric was a major highlight, as was the designer’s take on Americana (“USA” sequined tops) and classic fashion conventions (short-sleeved sequin tops ringed in pearls). A signature like sequins can seem singular, but Ashish totally figured out how to make it not only cool, but downright innovative.
The Accessories: Platform light-up sneakers and neat beaded headbands.
The Beauty: Matching hot pink blush and shadow along with curly hair.
The Takeaway: Sequins don’t have to be one-note!
