I’ve never been an avid follower of the menswear line Duckie Brown — untill their Spring/Summer 2010 runway show, that is. Underwear as outerwear – thanks to Lady Gaga and fashion designer influencers like Stella McCartney and John Galliano – has quickly morphed into a full-on, all-over the runway trend. However, it took design partners Steven Cox and Daniel Silver to bring the trend (that has yet to make a powerful effect beyond the runway) to menswear. Now the duo are teaming up with Eddy Chai and Paul Birardi, founders of a slew of trend-setting boutiques, to launch a menswear contemporary label called Edward. The new line will make its debut at Chai and Birardi’s three Odin boutiques before, if all goes as planned, opening up to a wider distribution.
