MFW: JIL SANDER S/S 2010

I’m still obsessing over Raf Simons’ Fall/Winter 2009 collection. It’s in boutiques now (as well as on net-a-porter, which makes exerting self control that much more difficult), and I can’t think of one cocktail dress from the line I don’t wholeheartedly covet. Lest we forget, the Jil Sander Uniqlo collection will be hitting stores on October 1st,  and although those looks don’t appeal to me as much, there appear to be some good basics in the mix. As for the Spring/Summer 2010 Jil Sander collection, Simons said that he was inspired by nature.

Once again, the Belgian designer – who took over creative reigns at Jil Sander in 2005 – knocked it out of the park with his dresses. Whether he played with a sheer-opaque contrast, or whether he had piece of fabric scattered and hanging off the dresses, the fit and the movement of each of the looks were spot-on.

Many of Jil Sander’s customers look to the brand for everyday business-type pieces, and Simons churned out those signature crisp suits, some with blazers cinched at the waist, others paired with extra-wide leg pants.
