This week there has been a lot of moving and shaking – or at least rumors of it.
First up is Peter Som, who after the debacle with Bill Blass may be heading for Tommy Hilfiger. Rumor has it that Som will step in as creative director, a post that the brand has been looking to fill for a number of years. He may alternatively be taking on some sort of a consulting role at Hilfiger. For now, all we know for sure is that Som, who showed his first collection at Bryant Park in Spring 2001, will be showing his namesake collection for the Spring/Summer 2010 season on September 16th at Milk Studios.
Another house that has been in need of a creative director is Cacharel. The french house, which was established back in 1962, is attempting a comeback via a spring collection that will be shown in October during Paris Fashion Week. Now they’ve announced that Cedric Charlier will be joining the French house as the new creative director. A Celine, Lanvin, and Michael Kors alum, Charlier is replacing an in house team that took over after the departure of Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto. He is heading the design team for the upcoming Cacharel show – the house’s first since announcing in December that they would no longer stage formal runway shows during Paris Fashion Week.
