Fashion Week Daily has been keeping close tabs on the situation over at Bill Blass ever since Peter Som left the house. Back in March, they first broke the news that Peacock Holdings, the new owner of Bill Blass, had been considering Richard Chai for the job of creative director at the iconic American fashion house.
The publication was told to expect an announcement within a month, but nearly four months later, we have yet to hear of any progress. Without a creative director, a Spring/Summer 2010 show seems highly unlikely, but a rep for Peacock Holdings said – “we’re talking to people, but there’s nothing I can divulge. We’re still figuring things out [about the September show season], so we’ll keep you updated.”
In more positive news, many in the industry can breathe a sigh of relief for Lacroix. It has just been confirmed that despite filing for voluntary bankruptcy at the Paris commercial court in order to protect itself from creditors, the house of Christian Lacroix intends to participate in Couture Week. The show, slated to take place on July 7th at Les Arts Decoratifs, will be staged as a small presentation of 20 looks rather than on a catwalk.
