Lanvin’s revered creative director, Alber Elbaz, has been inspired by an unlikely source. The Casablanca-born designer has turned to actress Glenn Close’s wardrobe for a new collection. Taking a cue from Close’s wardrobe on her U.S. legal drama television show, Damages, Elbaz is launching a more tailored capsule collection for pre-spring offerings at Lanvin.
The pieces will be manufactured in the same Italian factories where Lanvin’s men’s wear is produced, and the collection is part of Elbaz’ goal of taking Lanvin in the direction of a “luxury supermarket.” Given his goal, Elbaz has been tirelessly working on a number of capsule collections set to be presented next season. Among the capsule offerings added to the main line are jersey, long dresses, bridal gowns, dip dyed cotton sportswear, and denim collections produced in collaboration with Sweden’s Acne.
