The Sunday Times has released their 21st annual list of the year biggest money makers. Despite a reported £500 million drop in wealth of Sir Philip Green’s Bhs and Arcadia brands, Sir Philip and Lady Green have made it onto the top 10 portion of the rich list with an estimated wealth of £3,830 million.
The list lists the 1,000 wealthiest men and women in Britain and Ireland. As reported by Vogue UK, other fashion heavyweights to make it on the list are Sir Paul and Lady Smith (each with an estimated fortune of £230 million), Matalan’s John Hargreaves (with an estimated wealth of £330 million), and Jaeger boss Harold Tillman (with a reported £295 million in riches).
Unsurprisingly, while it has been reported that celebrities all over the world have taken massive hits in this economy – Bloomberg reported that Elton John’s net worth is down 26 percent, Mick Jagger’s wealth is down by 16 percent, and Eric Clapton’s net worth is down by 14 percent over the last year because of the economic downturn – Victoria Beckham and her husband Davis Beckham’s wealth is said to be unchanged.
Victoria Beckham comes out 47th on the richest women list with an estimated wealth of £125 million, while the the couple’s combined wealth comes in at 426th place on the overall rich list.
