Easily one of the most hotly anticipated shows of the season – even Morley Safer of “60 Minutes” was there as part of his profile on Anna Wintour – Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection took place in Paris’ famed Crillon Hotel.
Nearly every look featured a bold print or intricate drapery (mostly focused from the waist down which resulted in beautifully constructed skirts), and every look was austerely tailored in signature Nicolas Ghesquiere style.
That said, there was a softness to the draped pieces that balanced the sever-ness of the tailoring and toned down the futuristic feel of the collection for notes of supple femininity that made this collection seem more widely wearable than in seasons past.
