Kanye West continued to leave his stamp on New York Fashion Week when he turned out at the Y3 Fall/Winter 2009 show. However, that wasn’t the biggest news – for the first time Yohji Yamamoto, along with a number of children, bowed on the runway after the show. The Y3 designer has previously maintained that given that his line is a group effort he doesn’t feel it appropriate to bow at the end of his show. Why the children you ask? Y3 is adding a children’s line to their offering.
As for the looks, whether it be his childrenswear, meanswear, or womenswear pieces clean lines and black dominated.
A number of the womenswear pieces took on a distinct menswear-feel – think suits accessories with ties, and an abundance of black.
Y3 – the fruit of collaboration between Yamamoto and Adidas – incorporated Adidas’s signature three stripe logo cleverly everywhere from the collar on some, to the sleeve or arm on others.
Dark sneakers tied many of the looks together that play in the blurry area between sportswear and fashion.
