The CFDA president, fashion designer and creator of the timeless wrap dress will pen a column for the bimonthly travel magazine Departures, starting with the November/December issue.
Richard David Story, Departures editor-in-chief, said the designer will provide her own travel photography along with her jet-set life experiences. “Her whole life is like a Departures magazine,” Story added. The icon is said to have a “commanding and authoritative style,” making her very suitable for travel writing.
Recently inducted into the Seventh Avenue Fashion Walk of Fame, Von Furstenberg has come a long way since her early days.
“A little bit over three decades ago, I came to New York with a few little dresses I had made in a tiny suitcase and a child in my belly.”
Now, this woman of many facets seems to continue an infinite gathering of talents and great acclaims. Her new writing venture will surely be no exception.
