Zac Posen Spring 2013 Runway Review

New York’s younger set of designers have garnered a reputation for being contemporary, downtown, and edgy but it just takes someone like Posen to put everyone into nostalgia mode. As expected, the eveningwear was the highlight of the collection and it really packed a punch. Red carpet stylists are sure to have been salivating at the final run of dresses because there was something for everyone. It’s rare that a collection can cater to everyone from glamour-hungry Sofia Vergara, who would stun in the red strapless number, to the fashion-forward Cate Blachette, who would be equally sticking in the slate and baby blue ruched gown.

Where Zac Posen really succeeds in is remembering his customer. There’s a huge market of women looking for wearable, feminine pieces without the bells and whistles of some other brands. This collection’s inspirations spanned the decades but it’s not hard to imagine each piece on a modern woman. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for those who love him, they’re sure to be pleased.
