Twitterati #Fashion Recap: Anna Wintour Makes Jokes, Chanel Nabs Brad Pitt, and Vogue Trades Celebrities for Athletes

Anna Wintour Makes Jokes During The Colbert Report

Vogue’s head honcho and probably one of the most influential beings in the fashion world, Anna Wintour, appeared on the The Colbert Report to promote the Met’s new Schiaparelli and Prada exhibition. Highlights of the interview as recounted by WWD included Colbert asking Wintour, “Is there ever a time when you cannot care about fashion? Do you ever just say to yourself, ‘to hell with this,’ put on your zebra-striped sweat pants and go to Long John Silver’s and just lose yourself in a pile of battered fried shrimp?” Wintour’s reply? “Well, I haven’t done it recently but maybe now you’ve suggested it I should try.” Fashionista.com tweeted another funny moment between the pairing, “Colbert to Anna Wintour: I don’t really trust Prada. My understanding is the devil wears Prada. Anna: That movie was so last year. ZING.”

While no one certainly would have pegged Anna as a jokester, the evening left more than several fashion Twitter users highly amused by Miss Wintour’s witty humor. Fashionologie tweeted, “Don’t miss AnnaWintour‘s hilarious appearance on the.” Later adding, “If you missed AnnaWintour‘s segment on the , you need to watch it now.” Marie Claire‘s Associate Web Editor Alyssa Vingan tweeted, “Anna Wintour on The Colbert Report is EVERYTHING.” Designer Cynthia Rowley added, “The Anna Wintour/ Steven Colbert interview was kind of charming.” Agreed.

Vogue Celebrates the Olympics on its June cover

Speaking of Vogue, its June 2012 Olympics-inspired cover has everyone tweeting. Fashion blogger Bryan Boy tweeted, “WOW. June Vogue is MAJORRRRRRRRRRR.” BuzzFeed’s Amy Odell added, “Oh my God Vogue’s Olympics editorial is some kind of amazing.” Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte, the 4th male to ever grace a US Vogue cover, tweeted an image of the cover saying, “Everyone get the new  magazine, cover is Me  and  it’s hot! .” Who knew Vogue was such a team sport?

Brad Pitt Becomes the First Male to Grace Chanel No. 5

But Ryan isn’t the only male taking the fashion world by storm. Half of Hollywood’s hottest and most famous pairing, Brad Pitt, has nabbed one of the most elusive fashion campaigns, the coveted face of Chanel No. 5. Earlier in the week, Chanel confirmed this too-good-to-be-true rumor tweeting, “CHANEL has selected world renowned actor Brad Pitt to be the face of the upcoming advertising campaign for CHANEL N°5. The luxe fashion house also tweeted a picture of the not so shabby actor to go along with their big news.

As expected, upon hearing such news, the fashion twitterverse reacted with equal enthusiasm. Styleite tweeted, “Brad Pitt, a dude, is the new face of Chanel No. 5.” New York Times’ Cathy Horyn asked the most important question, “Man in the house: Chanel grabs Brad Pitt for No. 5 ads. Does this mean he’ll be at the shows?”

Since the live stream series was filled with amazing Tom Ford quotes that will, no doubt, be repeated and become mantras for years to come, here are a few of his best comments as tweeted by fashion’s best:
