Rife with nods to Dior’s famed New Look, there was a distinctly retro sensibility to the collection. Delicate sheer fabrics, voluminous skirts, elbow-length gloves, houndstooth separates, and organza peplums made for a slew of beautiful garments, but one can’t help but miss the dramatic excitement of John Galliano-designed Haute Couture — even the makeup this season was kept understated.
