This past Saturday Emma Roberts, Kelly Ripa, and Donna Karan, along with InStyle and its editor-in-chief Ariel Foxman hosted the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s (OCRF) 14th annual Super Saturday 14 benefit, a day-long family-oriented fundraiser that comes complete with a legendary designer garage sale and more Aston Martins and Bentleys than one could ever hope to see in one place.
A slew of luxury brands including Donna Karan, Theory, Calvin Klein, Lisa Perry, J Brand, Pratesi, Kate Spade, Helmut Lang, Theory, St. John, Intermix, Smythson, Robert Rodriguez, Diane von Furstenberg, Elizabeth & James, Haute Hippie, and Lacoste set up shop offering their designer wares at discount prices with all proceeds benefiting OCRF. The biggest draws? Believe it or not, Dyson had a stand and they sold out in mere minutes, while it was a veritable mob scene at the Jimmy Choo and Ralph Lauren booths and at Rachel Zoe’s “Designers A to Zoe” booth, which boasted a Zoe-curated selection of Kara Ross, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Elise Overland, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Etro among others. One might have thought they were giving the goods away by looking at the well-heeled attendees pouring over shoes, cashmere, and the likes at the aforementioned booths.
The fundraiser event, held in Watermill, Southampton, also featured a raffle and kids’ carnival complete with a ferris wheel (where else but the Hamptons, right?), along with a slew of sponsored booths giving out gratis treats including Zico coconut water, Crumbs cupcakes, Pinkberry frozen treats, and the piece de resistance, a catered lunch by Southampton and Manhattan favorite, Sant Ambroeus (it’s not for nothing that tickets start at $450). A Votre Vu-branded 27-foot Airstream, functioning as a mobile spa was also on hand to pamper guests, while June Jacobs Spa Collection and a Beauty Bar from LVMH were among the skincare/cosmetic brands selling discounted beauty items to benefit OCRF. It’s quiet an experience and with so many activities spread across the sculpture park where the event was held, it’s hard to know where to start — thankfully it’s a six hour event.
Shoppers without hundreds to spare on an entry ticket or for those not in the Hamptons over the weekend were still able to get a bargain thanks to QVC, which broadcast live from the event selling a variety of products including apparel, accessories, jewelry, and beauty at discount prices with all net proceeds benefiting OCRF.
Aside from bargain shopping and a fantastic excuse to spend quality time with friends and family, Super Saturday is also about the celebrities and among those who were roaming around the 2,000 shoppers were Kris Humphries, Rachel Zoe, Chord Overstreet, Abigail Breslin, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle, Edie Falco, La La Anthony, Mark Feuerstein, Christa Miller, Gayle King, Beth Ostrosky Stern, Christy Turlington Burns, Karlie Kloss, Stephanie March, Star Jones, Lisa Rinna, and Kyle MacLachlan.
Emma Roberts, who arrived with her boyfriend, wore a Leyendecker dress and Miu Miu shoes —no small feat given that the event was held outdoors on a wind-less 90 degree day. As for the other hosts, Kelly Ripa was all smiles and wore a printed dress, while Donna Karan showed off one of her own tops, which she paired perfectly with jeans and a chic fanny pack (yes there is such a thing!).
Super Saturday 14 raised $3.5 million for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund to help fund ovarian cancer research, a cancer that causes more than 15,000 deaths each year in the U.S. alone.
