Louis Vuitton’s fall ad campaign
The first images from this year’s crop of fall campaigns have just been released by Louis Vuitton. Shot by Steven Meisel, the ads feature newbie models Daphne Groeneveld, Zuzana Bijoch, and Anais Pouliot getting cozy in retro automobiles. Wrapped up in mammoth furs, the models play with puppies while clinging to their LV handbags. Maybe its because of the forage caps, but the grim, retro luxury of the campaign seems very Berlin circa 1930s, like it’s only a matter of time before the girls get heckled by a Communist or seduced by an overconfident young member of the Nazi Party. Those were days worth glamorizing. [DesignScene]
Julianne Moore does good for Kiehl’s
Julianne Moore is Kiehl‘s new global ambassador, and will be working with the beauty brand’s new philanthropic initiative, Kiehl’s Gives, which launched last night. Moore plans to focus her efforts on working with children in poverty. Growing up in a military family, the actress saw vast discrepancies in the quality of education from place to place: “It was evident pretty early on that not all school systems are created equal; there are school systems where there isn’t enough money for even the basics, where there is extreme poverty. I could see this even as a kid, so when I had the chance to make a difference as an adult, it was important to me to do so.” Pharrell Williams and The Scissor Sisters will join Moore as brand ambassadors. Prabal Gurung for J. Crew launches
Prabal Gurung‘s J. Crew collection is finally available online, and click, click, click if you’d like any of their wares, because some of the items are so limited edition that there are only fifty pieces available. The sweet, bright colors are a great choice for spring although the crazy-happy applique bows aren’t my cup of tea. Also, doesn’t the white top in the third panel below, from the left, look a lot like American Apparel’s 3D Flower Mesh Jumper? If you’re into either of those items, I think it’s high time you got yourself a glue gun and DIY’ed your own rosettes. [Racked]
Who runs the world? (Beyonce)
Beyonce‘s new video “Run the World (Girls)” features lots of girl power, lions, and lots and lots of great clothing. Beyonce blows up a car in Gareth Pugh, dances up a storm in a Pucci with a super-high slit, and harnesses giant hyenas in Givenchy. I know. Video below. [HaveUHeard]
