There was a lightness and a feel of innocence that pervaded this season’s Peter Copping-designed Nina Ricci collection given the designer’s abundant use of lace, velvet, and touches of sheer fabrics.
Copping, a fan of the lingerie-inspired look in the past, once again elevated it this season to a sophisticated level with a strapless lace-topped cocktail dress made of contrasting textures and fabrics and a popping pale pink bottom. The romanticism of the designer’s delicate fabrics also made for a slew of beautiful ladylike daywear and outerwear pieces, including skirt suits, silk blouses, oversized coats, and fur-trimmed coats, that played into the designer’s aptly titled Fall 2011 show, “Portrait of a Lady”.
