There was so much to love in this season’s Giorgio Armani collection it’s hard to know where to begin. Keeping things classic and refined, Armani worked in exciting new cuts and proportion for a fresh take on his signature look. Perhaps the most surprising moment, however, came when the designer showed a little black dress with a blown-out photo print, self-portrait of himself taken in his younger years. The look could have easily veered into tacky territory, but with spot on shading, a black and white palette, and an easy, loose draped silhouette, it felt original and chic, though in this case, perhaps better suited for the designer’s Emporio Armani line.
The distinctive cocktail dress aside, the collection’s abundance of textured fabrics and its sultry hues including dark metallics, high shine bronze, black, blush, and gray not only played well with the designer’s boudoir inspiration, but with each other to keep each of the looks memorable, but toned-down and soft.
Opting to pair a number of his eveningwear looks with oversized necklaces, dangling earrings, and/or fur stoles, Armani gave further visual appeal to already enticing bejeweled-with-sequins looks, while cuffed at the ankle wide leg trousers, sculpted tops, and fitted suit jackets will give Armani’s customers an ample selection when it comes to seasonless daywear.
