Picking favorites from the model profiles on the CW website is no easy task: before taking pictures, the Tyra team dressed the contestants in stripper couture and dumped buckets of water over their heads (scroll down for a group shot). As a result, each girl looks like she’s a tequila shot away from vomiting on a streetcorner in the Meatpacking district on a Saturday night.
To add insult to injury, one of the contestants, Kasia Pilewicz (above), is already signed with Wilhelmina models in their plus-size division, and was featured prominently in V Magazine‘s Size Issue alongside Crystal Renn. ANTM contestants are prohibited from agency representation during their tenure at the show, and Wilhelmina has stated that Kasia was “on hiatus” from the agency “for a TV show.” At the start of Cycle 15, Kasia was spotted hobnobbing with Tyra Banks and the ANTM crew, and she lists “acting classes” as one of her favorite non-modeling activites on her CW profile. I’m guessing that her agency wouldn’t have allowed Kasia a temporary “hiatus” if the model stood a chance of winning the competition and cashing in on the contract with IMG; most likely, the Wilhelmina model is just hoping to land some commercial work or a cameo on Glee. We’re only one week away from NYFW, and it’ll warm your heart to hear that tents are already going up at Lincoln Center and IMG has written to Upper West residents, telling them to expect major traffic problems in the weeks ahead. Surely, traffic snarls are the least of our NYFW concerns: I’d like to remind everyone that our wonderful city streets are still covered with snow, ice, slush. Maybe we should postpone New York Fashion Week until NYC kicks its newfound galoshes habit. [Racked NY]
Luckily, not every element of an outfit has to be a victim of cold and snow. Long pendant necklaces are set to return for Spring, and they pair beautifully with February’s chunky sweaters and cozy cable-knit tops. If you want to divert attention from your duck boots or galoshes, click through to find a dramatic pendant necklace for any budget. [StyleBakery]
You might have heard that Keira Knightley would be the face of Tom Ford Womenswear, but the designer’s PR department has refuted the claim. Where did the rumor come from? A bit of clumsy grammar in the March issue of Elle UK. [Fashionetc]
Move over Victoria’s Secret, H&M has its own set of angels: for the brand’s Spring/Summer 2011 Conscious ad campaign, models Natasha Poly and Ben Hill wear all-white outfits and prance around in heaven. [DesignScene]
